Here to Stay: Why some Afghan evacuees are still in US bases six months on

Nine agencies for the "American dream"

Around one-third of the United States’ refugee resettlement agencies have ceased operations over the last four years, leaving nine big organizations in control of most of the resettlement budget. COVID-19 has made the situation even worse.

This in-depth report by journalist Thomas Nocera looks at the immediate and long-term consequences of the United States Refugee Resettlement Program’s funding mechanism through the story of an under funded small resetting agency in New York and interviews with experts exploring new ways to finance resettlement.
