Across the world, there is an increasing need for information on climate change and energy transition, environmental quality and circularity, and nature and biodiversity. These are the three main themes of the Green Deal, which comprises national and European agreements on sustainable development in a range of domains. In this area, too, Statistics Netherlands (CBS) is responsible for supporting public debate, policy development and scientific research by providing unbiased and consistent statistical information. But CBS cannot do this on its own, and it has sought collaboration with other knowledge institutions, for example the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI).
