As The GroundTruth Project’s Controller, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing our day-to-day financial operations while maintaining accounting records and internal controls in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). 

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and supervise our accounting and finance processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll, ensuring accurate and timely transactions.
• Mentor and train our accounting staff to produce high-quality work and foster professional growth.
• Collaborate with key members of the organization to create and improve systems, processes, and policies in line with our mission and vision.
• Ensure month-end closings are completed on time and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and account analysis for accuracy.
• Spearhead the preparation and submission of Form 990 and act as the main point of contact for the annual financial audit.
• Stay abreast of trends and changes in the accounting field, utilizing technology to improve financial management systems.

Qualifications:

• You have at least six years of collective experience in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, including three years of supervisory experience.
• Your background includes working in a nonprofit with a mix of funding sources, demonstrating your understanding of nonprofit accounting and GAAP.
• You are detail-oriented with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, capable of handling multiple tasks simultaneously and meeting deadlines.
• Your ability to analyze numbers and present complex financial information clearly to diverse audiences sets you apart.
• Experience with accounting systems is required, and proficiency in technology for financial management is an advantage.
