Staff Accountant

The GroundTruth Project, Inc. is looking for an experienced Staff Accountant to join its growing Finance team. The Staff Accountant provides general ledger and other accounting/administrative duties and should take full ownership of your areas of responsibility and prioritize time effectively. 

The Staff Accountant reports to the Controller.

Essential Functions:

• Process accounts payables and receivables
• Handle  various balance sheet accounts, post journal entries and reconcile accounts
• Manage employee expense reimbursement, purchase orders and the corporate credit cards
• Assist the Controller with month-end, and year-end close process
• Establish and modify the implementation of accounting procedures
• Monitor compliance with organization policies and procedures
• Prepare and review quarterly programmatic payments with cross-department liaisons
• Assist with preparation and execution of annual audit and 990 tax filing
• Collaborate with the Controller to develop financial policies and procedures and best practices
• Maintain fixed asset schedule
• Performs other related duties as assigned

 

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:  

• Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent experience required.
• At least 2-3 years of collective experience in Finance,  Accounting or a related field
• Demonstrated experience working in a nonprofit
• Thorough understanding of nonprofit accounting and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
• Affinity for and ability to analyze numbers
• Strong  Microsoft Excel and writing skills
• Familiarity  with QuickBooks Online and Salesforce preferred but not required
• Professional  demeanor, excellent organizational and communication skills, and attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build relationship across the Organization
• Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize tasks and meet deadlines and objectives.
• Positive and solutions-oriented attitude, drive for excellence, self-starter and team player
