Welcoming Rebecca Forman as new Chief Development Officer

The GroundTruth Project welcomes Rebecca Forman as new Chief Development Officer

January 14, 2024

The GroundTruth Project is pleased to welcome Rebecca Forman as its new chief development officer. In this executive leadership role, she will oversee all fundraising efforts, cultivate key funder and partner relationships, and help elevate the organization’s core program brands – Report for America and Report for the World – and their stories of impact.

“I am honored to join The GroundTruth Project as Chief Development Officer, working alongside such a talented and passionate team to strengthen local journalism and support the next generation of journalists in communities around the globe,” Forman said. “I look forward to collaborating with colleagues, partners and supporters to contribute to the organization’s continued growth and success, ensuring that quality journalism continues to thrive and inform communities.”

Forman will join the executive team and provide strategic development leadership at a pivotal moment for the organization, on the heels of a major Knight Foundation investment, the launch of a robust local news sustainability program, expanded newsroom partnerships and journalist opportunities, and media challenges and opportunities locally and globally.

“Rebecca is an energetic, proven and dedicated leader in philanthropy and local news, and I am delighted to welcome her to the team,” said Rob Zeaske, chief executive officer of The GroundTruth Project. “She is highly committed to the mission we share with our partners and communities in creating fearless, truthful, sustainable local journalism. Rebecca’s experience, values and humanity will be a great addition to our team and our shared work.”

Forman most recently served as head of development and donor relations at The Lenfest Institute for Journalism where she built a development team and infrastructure from the ground up to an annual multi-million dollar operation. The Lenfest Institute supports the reinvention of local journalism, and Forman worked extensively and strategically with grantees and partners to drive additional financial support.

Prior to The Lenfest Institute, Forman held leadership roles with United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey and with the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation. She is a graduate of the Fox School of Business at Temple University and Pennsylvania State University. She lives in Philadelphia.
